Watercolor Classes

Learn the art of watercolor painting at Forest Hill Studio, the private studio of Geraldine McKeown. Located on a farm in Fair Hill, Maryland the scenic country setting provides an inspirational environment for painting.

Geraldine has taught watercolor for over 25 years and through individual attention and classroom demonstrations she will help dispel the myth of the difficulty of this beautiful medium.

Classes are structured and the watercolor techniques of glazing, wet into wet and dry brush are taught as well as various techniques for creating texture and masking to save the white of the paper. Successful watercolors require preplanning through black and white value studies and this is taught along with improving drawing skills. Successful paintings also employ the use of design and composition and these elements are also taught. Classes consist of teacher demonstrations and independent work.Students have access to an extensive library of books on art, especially watercolor.

Classes are held in the spring and fall. Because classes are small and limited to 7 students it is necessary to register and send a $50 deposit. A make -up day is held at the end of the session for missed classes. For more information call 410-398-5447 or email Geraldine (see Contact below).
